Improving day rates drive Pride income
Jackup Pride Georgia on location in the U.S. Gulf HOUSTON: Houston-based offshore drilling contractor Pride International reported record results for the second quarter of 2008. Income from continuing operations totaled US$151.6 million, or US$0.87 per diluted share, on revenues of US$560 million. These results compared to income from continuing operations of US$120.1 million, or US$0.68 per diluted share, on revenues of $530.0 million for the corresponding three months in 2007. Read More

Marine drilling operations are undertaken primarily by mobile offshore drilling units (MODUs). MODUs can be of two basic types, bottom-supported or floating. Bottom-supported MODUs include jackups and submersibles. Floating MODUs include semisubmersibles, drillships, offshore barges and tender-assisted units, which generally are built with semisubmersible or barge hulls. Other types of drilling rigs are used in marine drilling operations, including inland water drill barges and platform rigs.
